Thought I’d update you on the upholstery, not least because it might spur me to get on with the dining chairs of which there are still only three re-covered! So here’s a series of photos showing the progress:
As you can see this is a labour of love and it is hardly surprising that if you want upholstery done for you you will be charged a fortune. It not only takes time but is surprisingly physical... traditionally a man's job.
I am annoyed to realise I took no photos at yesterday's class so I can't show off the fact that I've now covered the horsehair with calico and cut out my actual fabric. Yes: I can at last see the end in sight!

I am SO impressed that you are tackling this project! I have a similar piece in desperate need of a makeover. Not even piles of pillows and artfully draped throws can hide those stripes!
Amazing skill to have - am impressed. Look forward to seeing the next stages.
It's very complicated! I couldn't do it without the guidance of our teacher who trained at the London College of furniture and takes on projects for the likes of the National Trust in real life.
All I can do is sigh in admiration.
I am in awe of your patience! Wow - look forward to seeeing the final results
That is going to be so special when it's finished, hausfrau. I too am in awe.
