The birthdays were both deemed successful; the camping, fun.
Eurostar and the TGV to Lyon were brilliant. We had a busy trip, eating too well and all managing to speak a little French: it’s amazing what you can manage if everyone has to order their own food or go without.
Eldest got nine A* and an A.
My trainee teacher has started work.
My girls have gone back to school.
I AM ALONE IN THE HOUSE.
I may take the day off; eat chocolate with a good book; think in the sewing room; play in the garden… or perhaps just take delivery from Sainsbury, do the washing, tidy the sitting-room and catch up on what’s been going on on the blogosphere, all while listening to Radio 4 with no chance of anyone turning it off.

You sound like you've had fun and big congrats to the exam girl - great results! Sorry to have parped my horn on my way past but I couldn't resist interrupting the peace and quiet. Very naughty I know. My first day alone is tomorrow but am haircutting and then I'll have to wait until Friday afternoon for some domestic solitude.
Enjoy!
Sounds like a good summer and well done to Eldest - you must be very proud.
Must catch up soon. xx
However, all visitors who'd like to save me from domesticity would be welcomed!
How was big school?
Peace perfect peace. I love that feeling of being alone in the house.
Fantastic exam results, well done Eldest!
Thank-you all for your kind wishes to Eldest. She has been showing off her dimples alot lately! Her first day in the 6th form was clearly a success as she was on cloud nine all evening and told us several times that Imaginery Numbers are 'so cool' - no I don't know about them either...
Sounds like a lovely day! enjoy!!!

Well done to your Eldest - a sterling achievement. My son only took one this year but he's only in Year 9. It was French, which he speaks fluently so it was a guaranteed A*. I'm enjoying my first day of solitude for over a year. Husband, after protracted unemployment, has returned to work and children back to school. It's very quiet....
