Eldest is home from her second term at university, eating me out of house and home and complaining it’s cold – it is: Husband and I wear more layers than ever and often keep our coats on during the day. We have ordered a wood burner to be fitted next week and have some hope that it may provide the miracle our neighbours describe!

We have to grocery shop so much more when our student girl is home...it is true...they eat you out of house and home! and I am so jealous of you getting a wood burner.....
That's three people now, who've told me that they have either recently acquired a woodburner or are just about to! I'm told it provides " a different kind of heat" - a hotter heat, in fact!
The wood burner is not yet meeting expectations but we are putting that down to the quality of our wood - too damp. When Husband does get the wood burner going (oddly, this is a man's gadget and not a poxy fireplace that skivvies look after)it gives out MUCH more heat than the standard fire.
