My nephews loved theirs, but the eldest always sobbed when we left and it upset me for days, even though he truly adored being there. I loved it when my brother went off to his, as I went to a day school and it meant I had all the attention at home! With regard to food, my daughter is such a fussy eater that I actually threaten her with boarding school (knowing she would hate to leave home) if she leaves everything uneaten on her plate, and tell her that she will have nothing else on offer if she went.
